Officers were called to the scene where they found the man lying injured with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital but unfortunately despite the best efforts of medical staff died a short time later.

A post mortem revealed the student died as a result of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Two Birmingham men, one aged 27 and the other 28, were arrested in the early hours of today (Monday). And a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Det Insp Warren Hines, who is leading the investigation, said they were still looking for people who were in the area at the time of the incident as they could have critical information.

“It is horrific such a young man has lost his life and I would urge anyone who has information about Connor’s death to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible,” he added.

“We continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward and Connor’s family have been made aware of the arrests.”

Specialist officers continue to support Connor’s family.
