Thousands raised for Age UK at 40th anniversary celebrations

Solihull Editorial 9th Dec, 2023   0

THERE were double celebrations when £4,000 was raised at an even to mark Age UK Solihull 40th anniversary.

The Evening of Celebration saw around 90 guests come together at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for a speed quiz, entertainment and a speech from former Savoy Hotel chef Bill Farnsworth.

Age UK Solihull’s Chair, Sally Tomlinson, proposed a toast to the charity and thanked everyone involved in keeping their services for older people running.

This sponsorship, as well as ticket sales, the raffle, Christmas card sales and donations at the event topped £4,000, which will help the charity run its services to support around 10,000 older and vulnerable Solihull residents each year.

Age UK Solihull’s digital marketing and fundraising manager, Rebecca Jacob, said: “It was great to see our supporters coming together, including staff, volunteers, corporate partners and some new supporters as well.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the total raised, which will go a long way to helping us to be here for older and vulnerable residents who need us this difficult winter and beyond.”
