KIND-HEARTED fundraisers put their best foot forward and raised thousands in honour of a former Coventry Rugby Club player.
Scores of fitness fanatics, avid walkers and their four legged-friends took on the 3km walk/run at the Old Silhillians Rugby Club in Knowle and raised £21, 602 for the Matt Gallagher Foundation.
The total included a £10,000 sponsorship from Pertempts Network Group, a local company connected to the charity.
The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Shahin Ashraf was at the walk offering support to those taking part.
Matt Gallagher said: “We are ever so grateful for all of the support coming out of the Solihull community, as we push to raise the vital awareness for Motor Neurone Disease.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
The Matt Gallagher Foundation was set up in honour of the Solihull resident who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2023.
Along with his family, Matt is focused on raising awareness about MND and providing immediate support to those affected, particularly in the West Midlands.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has raised over £600,000 and has supported 35 West Midlands families living with MND through funding home adaptations and helping create cherished memories.
The foundation collaborates with other MND charities, including the MNDA and My Name5 Doddie, to further its mission.
Matt, a former professional rugby player with Coventry Rugby Club, has used his connections and current role in the land and planning industry to rally support for the cause.
His commitment to fighting MND extends beyond fundraising; he is dedicated to fostering hope through research and providing vital support to those living with the disease.
