AS SOLIHULL recovers from the heatwave Birmingham Rep has revealed a brand-new festive production for youngsters.
An adaptation of Jack and the Magic Beanstalk featuring puppetry and live music has been created for three to six-year-olds.
Written by children’s theatre playwright Katherine Chandler, Jack and the Magic Beanstalk will play in the Rep’s most intimate space of The Door from December 7 to 31.
It tells the tale of Jack who loves his mum, his grub and his dreams of food and a giant who loves food too, but doesn’t leave enough for all to share.
Jack goes on a festive adventure of magical beans, golden harps and towering beanstalks, and climbs to the land above the clouds to teach the Giant a jolly good lesson.
Director Caroline Wilkes said; “I am thrilled to be directing this brand new immersive production of Jack and the Magic Beanstalk for our youngest audiences at The Rep.
“The show, made especially for three to six-year-olds, will have live music, puppetry and physical story telling in a reimagining of this well-known tale.”
Jack and the Magic Beanstalk is supported by the Sir Barry Jackson Trust.
