VOCAL harmony group, The Overtones, took some time away from their tour for a special Christmas performance at the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull.

The four-piece vocal group, made up of Mark Franks, Darren Everest, Jay James, and Mike Crawshaw, are currently on their Good Times Tour and made time to support Marie Curie’s Christmas Appeal and meet patients and loved ones alongside staff and volunteers.

Mark said: “Christmas can be a difficult time for dying people and their families, so we were thrilled to be able to visit the hospice to sing some of the songs from our Good Times Tour and bring a sprinkling of festive cheer to patients, staff, and visitors.

“To be able to meet the patients, their families and to see for a short time the wonderful care provided by the Marie Curie team was wonderful.”

Marie Curie believes everyone experiencing death, dying or bereavement should be able to have the best Christmas possible.

Dr Sarah Wells Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice medical director said: “We are so grateful to The Overtones for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit us, sing Christmas songs to get us in the festive spirit and spend time talking to our patients, families, staff, and volunteers.

“We do as much as we can to make sure Christmas continues to be a special occasion for the people, we care for who celebrate it, and those close to them.”

The money raised from the Christmas Appeal will also fund the charity’s free support line and webchat, which is available to anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from and those close to them.

It offers practical and emotional support on everything from symptom management and day-to-day care to financial information and bereavement support.
