THE SHOW must go on – that was the message to a local theatre company after it was told electrical works would keep the curtain down.

Creators Theatre Company were due to perform the musical Into The Woods at The Dovehouse Theatre based at Langley School at the end of October.

However, with just seven weeks to go the theatre group were informed that due to electrical works planned by the school there would be no access to the site for their performances.

The news came as a further blow to local theatre, following the closure of Solihull’s Core Theatre until late November due to Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) being discovered.

After a fraught 48 hours of crisis meetings, the Creators Theatre production team were thrilled to receive the green-light from Solihull School that the production could relocate to it’s Bushell Hall venue.

Creators Theatre Company bosses say The Dovehouse Theatre have provided additional technical equipment to facilitate the move which will feature projections, lighting design and a live seven piece orchestra.

Richard Agg, Creators Theatre Company director, said: ‘We’re so grateful to the team at The Bushell Hall and Solihull School for coming to our rescue and allowing us to move our production into their beautiful space.

“At a time when many of our friends in the Solihull theatre community are having their performances cancelled due to RAAC, we feel extremely fortunate that our show can still go ahead.

“We have an incredible vision to bring Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece to the Solihull stage and this will be a production not to me missed.”

The theatre company say current ticketholders will be contacted by Creators Theatre Company to relocate or rebook their tickets.
