Temporary road closures for Balsall Common Fun Run this weekend

TEMPORARY road closures will be in place across Balsall Common this weekend for the seventh fun run.

After being forced to cancel last year’s event due to the pandemic runners will be taking to the start line at the Heart of England School on Sunday, September 19, in aid of the Lily Mae Foundation.

The foundation was set up by Balsall Common couple Ryan and Amy Jackson following the death of their daughter Lily Mae who was stillborn.

It supports parents and families who have lost a baby to stillbirth or to neonatal death.




The 5km and 10km adults race begins at noon at the Heart of England School and the mini race for primary school aged children begins at 11am.

The roads following roads will be closed Alder Lane, Asbury Road, Ashfurlong Close, Balsall Street, Balsall Street East, Bracebridge Close, Bradley Croft, Burberry Grove, Burleigh Close, Chatterway Drive, Childs Oak Close, Coplow Close, Dale Meadow Close, Drybrooks Close, Dunchurch Close, Fern Dale Road, Fernhill Lane, Finford Croft, Foxes Way, Frog Lane, Gipsy Close, Gipsy Lane, Grange Road, Greenbank Road, Hawkswood Drive, Holly Lane, Kemps Green Road, Kenilworth Close, Needlers End Lane, Newhouse Croft, Priors Close, Sear Hills Close, Shenstone Drive, Speedwell Drive, Station Road, Stoneton Crescent, Temple Avenue, Tidmarsh Close, Tudor Close, Welby Gate, Whitnash Close, Wilton Road and Winsford Close.


Ryan Jackson, founder of The Lily Mae Foundation, said: “After the pandemic wiping out many events in 2020, we are so pleased to see the Fun Run make a return this year.

“It will be a great day for family and friends to finally get together and have something to look forward to.

“With the pandemic having had a profound effect on many people’s mental health, focusing on exercise and having a target to aim towards is so important.”
