Temporary Jobcentre opens in Solihull

Solihull Editorial 26th Feb, 2022   0

A JOBCENTRE has temporarily opened in Solihull.

The centre, based in Jago House on Solihull’s Warwick Road, has 38 work coaches to help more Silhillians into work.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said there will be support available for self-employed residents with dedicated work coaches on hand to help budding entrepreneurs set up and boost business for established companies.

There will also be support for those looking for employed work.

Some of the work coaches at the Solihull site joined the DWP as part of a recruitment drive to hire 13,500 new work coaches across the country.

The move is designed to boost support for people looking for work.

Scott Griffiths is one of those new recruits based at Solihull Jago House.

He said: “Providing the right information at the right time can be critical, not just with employment searches, but signposting people to resources that can enable them to improve their current situation.

“Doing that efficiently makes me go home thinking I have fulfilled my commitments as a work coach.”

Jago House is one of the new temporary sites announced by the Department for Work and Pensions earlier this year, building on the existing 639 Jobcentres across the UK.

Elliott Grady, the customer service leader who overseeing the new site, said: “It’s a huge investment in this part of the area, centrally located with easier access to public transport.

“Specialist DWP support will be on site along with partner organisations and employers. It’s really putting the ‘job’ at the heart of Jobcentre Plus.”
