Temple Balsall cemetery up for national award

Solihull Editorial 19th Sep, 2022   0

THE NATURAL Burial Ground in Temple Balsall has been named as a finalist for a national award.

Temple Fields Natural Burial Ground is in line for Best Burial Ground of the Year at The Good Funeral Awards, which is hosted by the Association of Green Funeral Directors.

The privately-owned cemetery has trees and ground level plaques mark graves in its burial areas instead of headstones in its burial areas and only biodegradable materials are allowed to enter the grounds.

General manager Hollie Whelan said, “I’m delighted that we are finalists in such prestigious, national awards.

“It is such a beautiful environment surrounded by wildlife, butterflies and bordered by the River Blythe.

“Visitors often say Temple Fields doesn’t feel like a cemetery.

“In fact, we often receive enquiries from people that were simply passing the site and then contacted the office wishing to reserve graves for themselves.

“Many have commented that they feel so at peace when they come here, that it has become a cemetery of choice.”

The awards take place on September 24 in Oxfordshire.
