A PAIR of teenage boys have been arrested and three machetes have been seized in Shirley.
West Midlands Police said officers from Guardian Taskforce were carrying out Project Servator patrols around Shirley Park on April 28, where a group of boys reacted to the police presence.
Following a short foot chase, two boys were detained, and following searches officers recovered two zombie knives and a machete.
The two boys, both aged 15, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
One of the boys has been charged and is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates on May 26.
The second boy has been bailed with strict conditions pending further enquiries.
The boys cannot be named for legal reasons.
Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.
There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
