A TEENAGE boy, who has been growing his hair for six years, has has raised over £2,000 for charity by donating his 19-inch-long hair to charity.

Lennon Evans wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps who donated her locks to the Little Princess Trust.

After years of dedication, the 13-year-old decided to make the generous donation, aiming to support children in need and make a positive impact on their lives.

The Little Princess Trust provides free wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to medical conditions including cancer.

Writing on his JustGiving page at the start of the charity challenge the Cockshut Hill School pupil, said: “I want to help kids that are going through cancer treatment or have other conditions and worry about losing their hair.

“It costs £700 to make a wig and I would like to try and raise that and more if possible. I am hoping to raise enough to make a wig with the hair I donate.”

Lennon’s mum, Marie Holman, said her thoughtful son had decided to fundraise after seeing how “upsetting” it could be for people to lose their hair through illness.

The proud mum said: “It made him want to grow out his hair and look into ways to donate it. He found The Little Princess Trust and applied for a pack.

“A family friend hosted the charity chop in the salon he works for. With the cash, and his Just Giving page, he’s raised just over £2,000 which he’s really pleased about. We’re very proud of him.”

Acting principal of Cockshut Hill School, Marc O’Malley, said: “We are incredibly proud of our learner for his generosity and kindness.

“His decision to donate his hair to such a worthy cause is an inspiration to us all. At Cockshut Hill, we encourage our learners to make a difference in their communities, and this act of selflessness truly embodies that spirit.”
