Teenager arrested after 'hero' Mercedes driver rams thugs trying to steal motorbike

A TEENAGER has been arrested after a ‘hero’ Mercedes driver rammed two thugs who were trying to steal a man’s motorcycle in Solihull.

The men on a red bike were in the process of attempting to rob a man’s BMW motorbike outside KFC on Chester Road in Castle Bromwich, on Sunday (August 4).

But, as we reported, the driver of the ‘luxurious’ Mercedes car intervened just in time, ramming the riders and doing damage to his car in the process.

An update from West Midlands Police today reads: “A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of theft has been released pending further investigation.”

The riders managed to escape and the police are still appealing for information.

Online donations pages have been set up to give thanks to the driver who selflessly ‘saved the day’.

And a new page has also been formed to support the driver as well as the owner of the damaged motorcycle.

The donations page – aiming to raise £10,000 for repairs – was set up by Stolen Bike Recovery and Connor Smith from Marston Green.

It states: “A hero took it upon himself to use his luxury Mercedes to defend one of our own, a law abiding motorcyclist, against a theft from two people who felt it was their right to take what they want.

“We are aware this hero’s car is very luxurious and for him to damage the car for someone who he probably hasn’t met is a selfless act of bravery.

“This man deserves the public, community and biker communities support.”
