A TEENAGER has been arrested following an assault on a man who was gardening in Solihull.

West Midlands Police say a 41-year-old man was assaulted by a group of teenagers as he was gardening in Alston Road at around 4.30pm on Saturday (September 7).

As the man was trying to defend himself, two teenagers suffered minor injuries caused by gardening scissors during the disorder, the force added.

The man was taken to hospital for his injuries, along with a 16-year-old boy.

Both were released from hospital and arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

West Midlands Police said: “The 41-year-old man was later released from custody and will face no further action.

“The 16-year-old and a 49-year-old who was also arrested have been released on bail.

“A 14-year-old was arrested on Monday (September 9) and remains in custody on suspicion of public order offence.”

Local neighbourhood officers are conducting reassurance patrols in the area.
