Tanworth-In-Arden welcomes new vicar

Solihull Editorial 28th Jan, 2024   0

A NEW vicar has been welcomed to St Mary Magdalene Church in Tanworth-in-Arden.

Reverend Chris Kennedy’s appointment was confirmed at a special service in the church, led by the Right Reverend Anne Hollinghurst, acting Bishop of Birmingham.

The appointment comes three years after the previous vicar left for pastures new.

South African-born Chris, once a physiotherapist, and still a keen sportsman, moves to the parish from the south of England.

He has been a vicar for seven years and is a keen drummer who says that music is a great part of his life.

He said: “My experience has included working closely with those in need of help and support outside the Church itself and I intend to carry this on as well as working with our existing congregations, encouraging others like to join us and welcoming those who do.”

Chris’ wife Hannah is already involved in the local community.

They have two children and will live in the village.

Church warden Phil Terry said: “I really welcome Chris’s appointment and I am sure he will give our Church renewed impetus.”
