Swimming pools and gyms open across Solihull as restrictions ease

Solihull Editorial 12th Apr, 2021   0

SWIMMING pools and gyms across Solihull have opened their doors as covid restrictions begin to ease.

This is the start of the second step of the government’s roadmap, which began on April 12, and allows people to attend the facilities on their own or in household groups.

In Solihull North Solihull Sports Centre and Tudor Grange Leisure Centre, managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council, reopened their doors following a three-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At North Solihull Sport Centre the gym, the sports hall for adults part of the same household and under 18s teams and swimming pool including family swim, public swim, children’s lesson and clubs have opened.

The astro pitch and track reopened on March 29.

At Tudor Grange Leisure Centre the gym, the sports hall for adults part of the same household and under 18s teams and swimming pool including family swim, public swim, children’s lesson and clubs have opened.

The tennis facilities for adults part of the same household and under 18s teams and courses will reopen by April 19.

The astro pitch, athletics track and grass pitch reopened on March 29.

The Government’s roadmap includes details of which facilities can reopen within each step, so some may not be available at the centres in the first instance.

Wayne Desmond, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We’re very much looking forward to reopening our centres and welcoming back the local community.

“After being closed for three months, the latest step in the Government’s Roadmap is a positive move forward for the leisure industry and gives people of all ages the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre.

“Minimising the risk of transmission for our customers and colleagues continues to be our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance.

“We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres reopening. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and thank them for their patience.”
