SURVIVORS of convicted breast surgeon Ian Paterson joined forces for cancer sufferers.

Former patients and family members raised £52 at The Greswolde Arms Hotel in Knowle at their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support.

Sarah Jane Downing, the founder of the support group for convicted former breast surgeon Ian Paterson’s private patients, hosted the event and welcomed the groups solicitor Kashmir Uppal to give reassurance to survivors about the Coroner’s Inquest.

The coffee morning was also a support meeting for the group, with many survivors and their relatives in attendance.

Sarah Janer said: “As the Paterson case continues it still provokes a lot of anxiety for many survivors and the worried relatives of women treated by Paterson.

“It was wonderful to gain some further information and reassurance.”

Sarah Jane holds regular meetings for survivors, and invites people to get in contact if they need support.

She added: “’Even now, two years after the Bishop’s Inquiry into Ian Paterson ended, there are still people only just discovering that their surgeries performed by Paterson was wrongful or unnecessary.

“I want to invite those people who are worried and those who are concerned that the surgery performed by him on their loved ones to join us for friendship and support.

“Please contact me at [email protected].”
