Sun shines down on Knowle Fun Run

Solihull Editorial 23rd May, 2023   0

THE SUN played its part in the Knowle Fun Run at the weekend.

Serious runners, fun runners, mini runners and fancy dress runners came together for the 38th charity fund-raiser organised by the Knowle and Dorridge Lions.

And the efforts of 1,000 of runners raised around £16,000 for Meningitis NOW and other local causes.

Runners were also running for other causes including squiggle, once known as Prince raising money for Prostate Cancer, Solihull School for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and several groups raising money for Maggies.

Meriden MP, Saqib Bhatti, got runners under way and handed out winners medals at the finishing line.

The event lead Richard Buckley said “I want to give a big thanks to all the volunteers that manned registration, t-shirt distribution and most importantly marshal points around the route.

“We had a few issues on the day and some runners times were not taken.

“We will ensure that this does not happen in 2024.

“We can only apologise and hope that it didn’t detract from the day overall.”
