STUDENTS and staff at Solihull Sixth Form College remembered fallen servicemen and women.
Principal Martin Sullivan and vice principal Jamie Staddon laid a poppy wreath on November 9 ahead of Armistice Day at Solihull’s war memorial.
This is something the College normally undertakes as part of a community-wide event on Remembrance Sunday.
However, the Coronavirus pandemic has prevented the usual event taking place as organisations were asked to lay their wreaths separately to ensure social distancing.
The College also marked the 102nd anniversary of the end of the First World War with a period of silence at 11am on Armistice Day itself.
Music student – Odhran Sullivan – performed The Last Post and Reveille on the trumpet to mark the occasion too.
College principal Martin Sullivan said: “It’s a shame we have not been able to come together as a community in the way we normally would, but it was important that the College marked this important annual event, even if we had to do so in a socially distanced way.
“I hope we can get back to community events in the way we have been used to soon.”
