Students across Solihull celebrate 'fantastic' A-level and BTEC results

SUCCESS was on the timetable for students in Solihull as they eagerly waited to find out their A-Level results.

Students across the town travelled back to their schools or sixth forms today to see if they got the grades needed to go to university, earn an apprenticeship or get their dream job.

Solihull School 

Solihull School has released an ‘outstanding’ set of A Level results, with 85 per cent of all grades at A* to B, 60 per cent of all grades at A* to A and 27 per cent of all grades at A*.

51 students achieved three or more A* to A grades and 92 per cent of all students obtained a place at their chosen university.

Charles Fillingham, executive headmaster said: “This is a superb set of results from a marvellous group of students who have been incredibly well guided and supported by our excellent and committed staff.




“We wish all 148 students well as they embark on their next chapter, whether at university, engaging in an apprenticeship, enjoying a GAP year or entering the world of work.”

Solihull Sixth Form College


Learners at Solihull Sixth Form College are celebrating as this year’s cohort outperformed last years.

More than 76 per cent of grades A* – C at A level and 85 per cent of BTEC grades at Distinction or above.

The College is part of Summit Learning Trust and has seen academic standards steadily rising with this year’s cohort outperforming last years.

Among the many successes this year are students who have earned Oxbridge places.

This includes Dan Martin, who achieved two A* grades and one A in A level Politics, German and History and has earned a place the University of Cambridge to study Modern and Medieval Languages.

Eliza Hamid also achieved success, with her two A* grades and one A in A level Biology, Geology and Chemistry enough to earn her a place at the University of Oxford to continue her Biology studies.

Away from Oxbridge, Danny Morris is taking up a place at Durham University to study Politics and International Relations after achieving all A* grades in A level Law, Politics and History.

Meanwhile Megan Kelly is progressing to the University of Sheffield to study Biological Sciences after receiving all A and A* grades in A level Mathematics, Biology and Fine Art.

Dr Martin Sullivan, Principal of the College, said: “It’s been a great year for Solihull Sixth Form College and it’s gratifying to see our clear upward trajectory continuing.

“I am very proud of all our young people for the hard work they have put into achieving these results, as well as our staff members who have supported learners so diligently.

“The majority of our students are progressing onto university, and whatever their next challenge – higher education, apprenticeship or employment – we wish them the best of luck and are delighted we were able to help them achieve the grades needed to forge a successful future career.”

 

WMG Academy Solihull

Year 13 students from WMG have come away with fantastic grades this year said the Chief Executive.

Stewart Tait said: “Students at the WMG Academies have had their commitment and endeavours rewarded with impressive examination results that will allow them to progress to the next stage of their journey, be that University, Apprenticeships or direct employment.

“Whilst it is always pleasing to report year on year improvements in results, this year has seen a significant increase in the highest grades gained in Technical Qualifications at Distinction * and Distinction.

“In our areas of specialism, the average student grade was a Distinction.

“Once again, there is a very impressive range of destinations that have been secured by Year 13 students that they and their Teachers and parents should be rightly proud of.”

Over half of our Year 13 students applied for and subsequently secured places at University, with 87 per cent of the whole cohort achieving grades between A* to C and / or Distinction* to Merit.

Jack and Nathan, two of the top achieving students secured a triple distinction * in BTEC Engineering Extended Diploma.

Princess was equally high performing achieving a Distinction Grade in BTEC Business studies, a grade A in A level computer science, grade B in A level maths and a grade B in Extended Professional Qualification (EPQ)

Caira achieved a A* Grade in A level Product Design, Grade B in A level Maths and Grade B in A level Physics.

Tudor Grange Academy Solihull

There was an atmosphere of celebration and pride at Tudor Grange Academy Solihull today, as students, staff and parents and carers gathered to collect some impressive A-Level results.

This year, 36 per cent of students achieved A*/A and 66 per cent of students achieved grades A*-B, with 99 per cent passing overall.

While many students have achieved impressive results and secured places at university, others are exploring new pathways and opportunities.

The school staff praised the entire cohort for their remarkable dedication and determination.

There were some notable success stories amongst this year’s A-Level results Ayla Jacklin and Cameron Skeffington who both got four A*.

Amelia Blake and Adam Johnson got three A* and one A, and Anson Chin and Ella Tandy got three A*.

Principal Mrs Claire Smith said: “These outstanding results are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our students.

“We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and whether they go on to university or pursue another path, we are excited to see them embark on their next chapter.

“At Tudor Grange Academy Solihull, we are committed to supporting students in achieving their goals, and this is reflected in the fantastic results today.

“I send my congratulations to the students and staff and thank the whole Tudor Grange Academies Trust community for their continued support and encouragement.”

 

Woodrush High School

The staff and governors of Woodrush High School Sixth Form say they are delighted with this year’s A level results and are thrilled to share many wonderful success stories,

Issy H, who secured A* A* A* and will be going on to study physics at Birmingham University, Joseph F secured all top grades A* A* A* and will heading to Manchester to study physics, Ella H, banked A* A* A and will progress onto undergraduate study chemistry at Imperial College London and Matthew K attained A* A A and will be studying chemistry at The University of Birmingham.

Phoebe L and Daisy H-S were thrilled to achieve AAA and will go onto study natural sciences and medicine, respectfully.

Other top A* and A grades were achieved by Thomas P, Josh P, Ruby W, Benjamin M, Charlotte G, Lacey D, Finley B, Ciara-Lee M, Sophie

A school spokesperson said: “We also have a number of students including Tom P and Owen H who have secured apprenticeships.

“We are so extremely proud of all Woodrush sixth formers and the school community wishes all sixth form Leavers the very best with their future pathways.”
