AN EXHIBITION showcasing historic view of Solihull will be at the Core Library.

The exhibition ‘Solihull Town Centre- Then and Now’, shows different views of the town centre between the 1880s and the 1960s, contrasted against the town centre today.

The exhibition is being shown until March 21. It also includes some “dash cam” footage of the town centre by Reginald Edwin Cooper (1907-1971) who mounted a hand-wound cine camera on his car. This footage is also on Youtube.

The exhibition details how Solihull town centre has changed over the past 140 years and is an excellent way to explore further about local history and heritage.

Councillor Alison Rolf, Cabinet Member for Stronger and Safer Communities said: “This is a great exhibition which shows the transformation of our town centre over the last century and how Solihull has changed and adapted over that period. This, combined with the very rare footage from the 1960s, combines to make a really fascinating exhibition. I’d encourage everyone to get down to The Core and see for themselves.”
