STORIES were shared when Warwickshire Police’s current chief constable came face-to-face with one of his predecessors.
Alex Franklin-Smith, appointed chief last December recently welcomed Peter Joslin back to Leek Wootton. Peter – the longest serving chief nationally – was at the helm of the force from 1983 until he retired in 1998.
The pair discussed how policing had changed over the years.
Speaking about the experience, Ch Con Franklin-Smith said: “It was a real honour to meet Peter. Having led the force for more than a decade, he had a lot of stories and pearls of wisdom for me.
“We both agreed policing has probably changed somewhat since his retirement, but many of the reasons people still join and stay in the profession remain the same as well as his impeccable dress sense.
“I know Peter has fond memories of his time here and it was a wonderful opportunity for us both to catch up.”
