Solihull Editorial 19th Jun, 2017   0

FINAL preparations are well underway to mark the 50th anniversary of St Mary’s Church being consecrated.

There will be a flower festival and afternoon tea this weekend to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Hobs Meadow Church being blessed by the Bishop of Birmingham to be used for worship.

The celebrations start at 11am on Saturday when there will be a service of Thanksgiving and Praise led by the Bishop of Aston, Anne Hollinghust.

This will be followed by a flower festival in the church and a community fun day ran by Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust outside with a plenty on offer including live entertainment, sideshows and food.

On Sunday afternoon there will be an afternoon cream tea in the church, where people are invited along to reminisce about the last 50 years of the church building.

There will also be a display of photographs and other memorabilia from the last 50 years of the church.
