St Bernard's in Bloom ready to welcome visitors

OLTON gardeners have braved the rain over recent months ready to showcase their work and raise funds for charity.

St Bernard’s in Bloom will see 12 gardens open on June 30 for all to have a look around and boost coffers for the Stroke Association.

There will be a host of other activities along St Bernard’s Road, which dates back to the 19th century, from 1pm until 5pm.

Some of the houses will have information about their history put together by a local historian.

In addition to the gardens, there will something for all the family, young and old.

There will be a children’s quiz who can explore the gardens to answer the clues, refreshment gardens with tea, cakes and samosas on offer.

The Pimms garden with live jazz and singers, including the West Midlands Police Cadets’ drummer corp, is set to return.

There is also plant stall and a raffle.

Last year the more than 1,000 people flocked to see the gardens and helped raise nearly of £10,000 for the charity – a feat organisers are hoping to beat.

Entry to all gardens costs £5 and children get in free.
