Spring at Touchwood: Holi celebrations, culinary demonstrations and 'out of this world' Easter experiences

Solihull Editorial 28th Feb, 2024   0

THIS Spring, Touchwood has a jam-packed calendar of events to keep the whole family occupied.

From live entertainment for St Patrick’s Day to Holi celebrations, a VIP culinary demonstration and immersive ‘Touchdown at Touchwood’ space experience for Easter – there really is something for everyone.

Touchwood is celebrating St Patrick’s Day with traditional live entertainment from David McGrath and his merry band of volunteers.

The celebrations will kick off at 11am on Sunday March 17 at St Patrick’s Dayon Crescent Arcade, with Mayor of Solihull Coun Diana Holl-Allan MBE opening the event with BRMB radio presenter and entertainer Bob Brolly MBE.

David will be singing Irish classics until 2pm, spreading joy and raising money for MacMillan Cancer and Myton Hospice.

On Saturday March 23, Touchwood is welcoming the Festival of Colour from 11am-4pm in the Atrium.

‘Art at the Heart’s’ family fun day of colour, culture and creativity will bring love and new life to visitors through vibrant colours in art.

Hit event ‘An Evening with Pookie’ returns to Touchwood on 27th March.

Spanish restaurant, Alioli, will be welcoming MasterChef star Pookie Tredell and guests from 6.30pm for a tantalising Mediterranean journey including a welcome drink, an array of tapas and live culinary demonstrations.

Pookie is a local Solihull resident and rose to fame when she was runner-up on MasterChef UK in 2022. Tickets for the hugely popular event are being sold at £35 per person.

The Easter action launches with immersive space experience, ‘Touchdown at Touchwood’, where the centre’s very own spacecraft will land on Jubilee Walk from 11am-3pm each day.

The out of this world experience will create excitement and joy for the whole family, as children step inside the spacecraft to assist with its take off to the moon.

Visitors can compete in a series of tasks to pass to the next level, with games to play and astronauts on hand to guide you through on selected days.

There will even be the opportunity to dress up as an astronaut and learn how to walk on the moon.

‘Touchdown at Touchwood’ takes place from Saturday 23 to Saturday March 30 and Monday 1 until Sunday April 7.

Lucy Burnett, marketing manager at Touchwood, said: “At Touchwood, we are passionate about creating a destination that everyone can enjoy.

“We’re thrilled to present an exciting programme of events for March and encourage you to come and join us to welcome in the Spring, whatever the occasion.”
