A WOMEN’S walking group has thanked a community-focused West Midlands accountancy firm for supporting its growing cause.
Solihull Women’s Stride Squad was established in mid-May to boost the health, wellbeing and confidence of women and has proved such a hit that it has already amassed nearly 1,000 members.
To help the group develop and become more sustainable, it has received sponsorship from Prime Accountants Group, which has offices in Solihull.
The funds will be used on resources, events and opportunities to encourage more members to join.
Morgan Davies, managing director of Prime Accountants Group, said: “We believe in supporting initiatives which make a meaningful difference locally and the Stride Squad does exactly that.
“It is bringing women together, promoting physical and mental wellbeing and creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all.”
Keeley Skelding, one of the walking group’s founders, thanked the firm for its support.
She said: “This is more than just a donation — it’s a step forward for our group’s development and sustainability.
“It helps us plan with confidence while being able to reach more women across the community and keep providing a safe, inclusive and inspiring space for connection and empowerment.”
The walking group meets every Wednesday at 7pm, at the Brueton Park gates on New Road.
It was founded by three women who were inspired after going for a walk with the local Men’s Walking and Talking Group.
Keeley added: “That walk brought us together at a time when each of us was looking for connection, purpose and a chance to support others. While the walk was set up to support men’s mental health, it opened a conversation between us about the huge need for a similar space just for women.
“We recognised many women were quietly struggling – juggling families, caring for others, battling anxiety, or simply feeling lost with no space to breathe. That’s where the seed for Solihull Women’s Stride Squad was planted.
“In a short space of time the group has grown into something truly special — a space filled with laughter, friendship, fresh air and fearless footsteps. Every week we’ve walked side by side, shared stories, lifted spirits and reminded each other of just how powerful women can be when we come together.”
