SOLIHULL School welcomed Solihull West and Shirley’s General Election candidates for a Question Time event.
Led by executive headmaster Charles Fillingham, parliamentary candidates on the panel at the event included Ade Adeyemo, Liberal Democrats; Saqib Bhatti, Conservative and Unionist Party; Deirdre Fox, Labour Party; Malcolm Ian Sedgley, Reform UK; and Max McLoughlin, Green Party.
More than 350 guests including local headteachers, teachers, parents, former and current pupils were at the question and answer session.
Charles said: “The panel covered a lot of ground and the questions covered topics including how their policies might benefit local people, the NHS, young people, VAT on private education school fees and AI.
“It was my honour to host a balanced debate at this time when interest in politics and the general election is high and I am extremely grateful to the candidates for their time.
“At the end of the evening, our own Sixth Form election candidates were delighted to meet their local counterparts ahead of our important school vote next week.”
