SOLIHULL Trading Standards are warning residents about a telephone scam targeting the elderly.
According to the body’s Facebook page Solihull residents are being telephoned, allegedly by HMRC, and told that they are in receipt of a pension to which they are not entitled.
They are told they should complete a form and provide electronic vouchers from the Post Office in the sum of £2,000 to be collected from their address the following day.
Trading Standards is calling on residents to advise any elderly relatives/friends/neighbours this is a fraudulent claim and not to get the vouchers or telephone the fraudsters back.
If anyone you know has been contacted by these people, report this via Action Fraud online by visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.
