MAKING sure people with learning disabilities in Solihull have opportunities is all the inpiration Jan Prior needs to go to work every day.
The mum of two was nominated for the Local Hero Award because of her dedication to help people in the borough with special needs.
Jan has many hats from being chair at Solihull Life Opportunities (SoLO) to lay chair on mental health panels, wife and mum of two.
Jan said it was her son David who inspired her to take up the role at SoLO where she plans and leads the trustee meetings, line manages the CEO and provides a link between trustees and staff.
She also volunteers for the charity 12 hours a week and fundraises outside of her working hours for SoLO.
And she offers support to parents at SoLO.
Jan said: “I am delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award; a recognition of hours devoted to improving lives of people with learning disabilities using a life experience that I never thought would happen to me but something that has shaped and enhanced my life.”
