A TEENAGE driver has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two pedestrians were left with life-threatening injuries in Solihull.

The 18-year-old was behind the wheel of a Grey Seat Ibiza at around 3.10pm when it struck a group of men walking in White House Way around 3pm on Tuesday (November 15) and crashed into the porch of a house.

Two of the men, aged 20 and 21, suffered internal injuries and multiple fractures and remain in a serious condition, while another 19-year-old has now been discharged from hospital.

The pedestrians, both in their 20s, were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver had to be cut free from the vehicle by fire crews before being taken to Heartlands Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Jim Bennett, from Force CID, said: “The precise circumstances are still unclear but we believe the driver deliberately targeted the injured men with his vehicle.

“We are at an early stage in our investigation and I’d like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, if they have not already spoken to the police, to come forward.

“The suspect is under arrest but at the moment is receiving treatment for his injuries; we will be speaking to him as soon as he is well enough.”

White House Way, Blossomfield Road and Alder Park Road were closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident on Tuesday evening.

Anyone with information should call West Midlands Police on 101.

Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.
