AN INSPIRATIONAL Solihull teacher raised hundreds of pounds for The Children’s Society when he completed the London Marathon at the weekend.

William Bauer completed the gruelling 26.2 mile course in an impressive 3 hours 36 minutes on Sunday (April 23) to support the charity’s work with the most vulnerable children across the country.

The 29-year-old is passionate about helping young people – a cause that he related to and led him to run for the charity.

So far, he has raised £2,030 towards the charity’s work with vulnerable children and young people.

William said: “Crossing the finish line of this year’s London Marathon is a big personal achievement and we’re so proud to have supported such a vital cause.

“It feels amazing.

“Some parts of the race were really tough but we know those miles won’t be as challenging as the experiences some children have to face every day.

“Knowing we were helping vulnerable young people across the country pulled us through the hardest times.”

The Children’s Society’s Challenge Event Co-ordinator, Reena Ruda says: “Running the London Marathon is a truly amazing accomplishment and William’s inspiring efforts will help to make a real difference to young people’s lives.

“William’s fundraising, along with all of our London Marathon runners, will support our vital work with children who often have nowhere left to turn.’
