Solihull students get a taste of business success with latest lecture

SOLIHULL students got a taste for business success thanks to a special guest lecture held in June.

Year 10 students studying a GCSE in Business Studies at Lyndon School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, heard from Subway operations manager Daljit Nahil and learnt about the intricacies of franchises.

Daljit Nahil, said: “I take every opportunity to engage with the local community and fly the Subway flag, and I strongly believe that investing in sessions like this is very important as this helps to educate and inspire the next generation of franchisees.

“The students were very engaged and asked very interesting questions. I’m looking forward to seeing the students again in a few months’ time to show them what a day in the life of a Subway franchisee looks like.”

In his time at Subway, Nihal ran a franchisee of 12 stores, and he now supports all new franchisees in the West Midlands.

Ranjit Samrai, head of business at Lyndon School, said: “Daljit’s lecture was incredibly inspirational for our students, and he gave them a real insight into the benefits of franchising.

“Ownership plays an important part of the GCSE Business exam and these sorts of experiences really enhance and support their understanding.

“We are in talks with Daljit about him delivering the same lecturer for next year’s students and also facilitating a trip to the subway stores for students to gain even more insight.”
