SUCCESS was on the timetable for students in Solihull as they eagerly waited to find out their A-Level results.

Students across the borough travelled back to their schools or sixth forms today to see if they got the grades needed to go to university, earn an apprenticeship or get their dream job.

This summer has seen a return to pre-pandemic grading in England, with some protection put in place to recognise any disruption students have faced due to Covid.

Solihull Sixth Form College

Students at Solihull Sixth Form College are celebrating an excellent set of A level, BTEC and CACHE results this year, with an impressive 98 per cent pass rate across all courses.

At A Level, 45 per cent of grades being A* – B, 100 per cent of CACHE students passed, while 99.9 per cent of BTEC learners did likewise.

Among the many successes again this year is Estella Hope, who joined Solihull Sixth Form College from Cockshut Hill School who has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study Theology having achieved an A* and two A grades in her A levels.

Meanwhile, Amrit Rooprai  has confirmed her place at the University of Oxford to study Medicine after securing three A* grades at A level.

Adam Bashir achieved two Distinction* grades and one Distinction in his BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science course. He is progressing to Aston University to study Pharmacy thanks to his superb BTEC attainment.

Dr Martin Sullivan, Principal of Solihull Sixth Form College commented: “I am proud of all our young people. Both students and their families have had a nervous wait over the summer to find out their results and these excellent grades are just reward for their hard work and determination.

“I wish our departing Year 13 students all the very best as they progress onto exciting destinations this autumn. I also want to pass on my congratulations to my colleagues at Solihull Sixth Form College for their dedication and commitment to their students.”

Solihull School

Solihull School is delighted to announce an outstanding set of A Level results, with over 50% of all grades at A* to A and 22% of all grades at A*.

To add to this fantastic news, 92 % of all students managed to obtain a place at their chosen university, all of the school’s Oxbridge applicants have been successful in securing their places, 41 students achieved straight A*/A grades and 13 students achieved 3 or more straight A* grades.

Charles Fillingham, Executive Headmaster of the leading 3-18 independent co-educational day school in the Midlands, said:

“This is an impressive set of results from a wonderful cohort of young people. The results also highlight the dedication and commitment of our staff. We wish all 139 students well as they embark on the next stage of their lives.”
