A SOLIHULL student has been getting creative in time for the Coronation of King Charles and
Queen Camilla.
Daisy Hand, a student at Tudor Grange Academy, has helped create artwork for houses on her street.
The project started when Daisy’s neighbour mentioned he wanted to adorn his front garden with mini
Buckingham Palace turrets.
Daisy’s mum Jo volunteered Daisy, and in between her GCSEs she got to work.
Jo said: “Daisy is a really talented artist, and when our neighbour said he wanted to get creative for the Coronation I knew this would be a great way to channel her creativity.”
After her GCSE art course work, and exam prep it was nice for her to just get her paintbrushes out and enjoy art again.
Daisy added: “Initially I was a bit apprehensive, but it was really fun to do something that I wasn’t worried about being marked.”
Daisy has been painting and drawing since she was little, and is hoping to go to BOA Creative Digital Performing Arts in September.
“I was never academic and it was difficult during the pandemic with trying to learn at home,” she said.
“But art was an outlet for me, and I spent much of lockdown creating and really practising my skill.
Jo added: “Even if she won’t say it herself she’s an amazing artist.
“I’m so proud of everything she achieved.
“The GCSEs have been really intense and it’s been lovely watching her getting back into her painting for the fun of it.”
