A MEDICAL student from Solihull is competing in the first virtual heat of Miss England.

Alyssa Van den Broek, 23, is vying to be one of the 29 finalists in the 2022 competition which is remaining online on its own Choicely app – designed last year during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Talented Alyssa plays piano, violin, guitar and ukulele and has been invited to submit videos for the first heat.

One will be an introduction and the second will be a catwalk piece.

The contestants are also invited to support ethical projects such as the We Do Ethicals Tree Planting project as the

Miss England contest which is hoping to make 70,000 tree planting pledges by the time of the 70th Miss World takes place.

Contestants can also get involved with www.WASUPME.COM – World Against Single Use Plastic in their local area to help stop the use of single use plastic.

Plans to hold the Miss England 2022 final are dependent on circumstances but organisers will be holding this in the summer of 2022.

Judges will see the efforts of the contestants and the public will be able to help select the heat winners by voting on the app.

The 70th Miss World contest will take place on March 16 in Puerto Rico where the top prize is $100k.

The current Miss England is Rehema Muthamia who has already reached the top 30 in the final out of 98 contestants for her Beauty with a Purpose campaign to help women flee domestic violence.
