SOLIHULL rail passengers are being warned to plan ahead as the station car park prepares to change hands.
From Monday (July 1) the station will be overseen by Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) instead of Chiltern Railways.
Rail bosses say monthly and annual passes will no longer be available for purchase and any existing passes will be honoured until they expire.
Lisa Mack, area manager for the West Midlands at Chiltern Railways, said: “I advise customers to plan ahead of parking at Solihull Station from Monday.
“There will be changes to the way that parking tickets are purchased and customers will need to pay at the car park as they will be unable to pay for parking within the station.”
Customers will no longer be able to pay using RingGo.
Free parking at the station will be extended from 20 to 30 minutes and tariffs will stay the same and the daily and weekly charges will remain in place.
Customers will be able to use the Connect cashless parking app or pay by phone as directed on the new signs in the car park.
Pete Bond, director of integrated transport services with TfWM, said: “This is very much a simple change of management – so we want to make this transition as easy as possible for customers. So I would urge regular users to check the new payment details ahead of Monday and make sure they are ready for the handover.”
