A PROLIFIC Solihull shoplifter has been jailed and banned from stores.

Adam Ford was jailed at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court for shop thefts, possession of cannabis and breach of bail conditions.

It came after he was arrested and charged with 37 different offences.

The 36-year-old was involved in the theft spree between December 2023 and April 2024, the court heard.

West Midlands Police said the Ford entered a number of shops in Solihull, filling up a bag with various goods and leaving without paying.

Ford was spotted on CCTV stealing alcohol from a shop in Marston Green on March 24 and was arrested a short time later.

In addition to being jailed for 16 weeks he also received a three-year order banning him from the shops involved.

West Midlands Police said: “We fully understand the impact and frustration of shoplifting on businesses of all sizes, it’s a crime which can affect livelihoods.

“As part of our more local policing model our teams across investigations, neighbourhood and response are now working closer together to prevent and tackle crimes which impact on our communities.

“Using local officer knowledge and working with store security, we are able to identify suspects, and any emerging trends or hotspots quicker.

“We routinely carry out regular high visibility patrols in retail areas, along with other activity, to trace and catch offenders.”
