SOLIHULL school pupils attended the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.

Pupils from Ninestiles Lyndon School, and Cockshut Hill School attended the service on Commonwealth Day, March 14, and saw the procession of Commonwealth flags and there were representatives from all faith communities who said poignant words of address including, “A person is either your brother in faith, or your brother in humanity.”

The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, attended alongside the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, was also in attendance alongside Labour Party leader Keir Starmer and other members of the cabinet.

There was also music from Mica Paris and Emeli Sande.

Vince Green, education director at Summit Learning Trust, which all three school are part of, said: “It was a great privilege for so many of our students to attend the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey this week.

“This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in an incredibly meaningful service which celebrated diversity and the beauty of different cultures.”

The Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey has been held since 1972 and celebrates the people and cultures of the Commonwealth nations that span the globe.
