A GROUP of string players from Solihull School hit the rights notes when they were offered to play with the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.

The six-strong musicians made up of Yoyo Wang, Leon Ye and Yiyang Pan in year 6, Daisy Zhang and Bella Zhang in year 5 and Ziqi Ding, who is in year 8 will be performing with the orchestra’s programme for the Midlands.

Yoyo, Leon, Yiyang, Daisy and Bella will be involved in two projects, one in March and another in June.

Meanwhile Zigi has gained a place in the under 13 Orchestra of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and will be involved in two residential courses in April and August 2022.

Helen Roberts, head of strings at the school, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that all six string players who auditioned for one of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain groups were successful – a rare feat to have so many from one school.

“The NCO is a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy their first experience of the joy of orchestral playing, and help them to realise their full creative potential.”
