Solihull school pupils celebrate national picnic week

FRESHLY picked strawberries were on the menu as St Alphege school pupils celebrated national picnic week.

The sun shone down as children buried themselves in their favourite books on blankets thanks to Gro-Organic.

During the picnic the children took part in story-telling activities and learned about local open spaces and the benefits of choosing healthy foods.

A one-off quarter-sized Land Rover Defender, designed by author Veronica Lamond, was donated to the school alongside a number of her books about the Series 1 Land Rover.

Sarah Forbes, chief executive at Gro-Organic said: “We are extremely passionate about linking local businesses with our community, especially when we can promote the enjoyment of the outdoor spaces we have here in Solihull.

“Picnicking is a great way to get away from phones and screens, to get the whole family together and to enjoy low cost activities that British people have enjoyed for years.

“The simplest things in life can bring so much enjoyment and we saw that here at St Alphege’s with our strawberries and stories afternoon.”
