Solihull Royal British Legion launch this years poppy appeal

Solihull Editorial 30th Oct, 2023   0

SOLIHULL Royal British Legion’s (RBL) poppy appeal has officially been launched.

The Solihull RBL branch will be out in force to raise funds to provide financial, social and emotional support millions of serving and ex-servicemen and women and their families.

This year’s appeal was launched at the St Alphege Church war memorial by Solihull Mayor, Councillor Diana Holl-Allen MBE, as well as Tracey Walker, branch chairman at Solihull Royal British Legion and Rob Walker, branch secretary and standard bearer at Solihull Royal British Legion.

The Mayor said: “I am honoured to be involved with the launch of the 2023 Poppy Appeal. I would encourage everyone to get involved and show their support and respect to our service men and women who show such bravery and have devoted their lives for the good of the nation.

“I hope that Solihull residents will support this appeal and help raise vital funds for the Royal British Legion.”

Hoping to build on previous year’s success there will be Solihull Royal British Legion volunteers around the town centre, in Morrisons and in Touchwood collecting donations over the coming weeks.

Tracey Walker, chairman of the Solihull Royal British Legion Branch, said: “This has been a tough year for many with financial hardship playing a big role in current events.

“However, I would like to thank the people of Solihull for their outstanding generosity over the years and hope that this year’s appeal will raise the vital funds that are needed to help those who rely on the Royal British Legion for support”.
