Solihull residents called upon to bring some Christmas cheer to the elderly

KIND-HEARTED Silhillians are being called upon to bring some Christmas cheer to the elderly across the borough.

Following the success of the past three years where Morgan Parkes Recruitment joined forces with Age UK Solihull to collecting gifts donated, the two have decided to do it all again this year with help from Home Instead Senior Care Solihull.

The gifts will be handed out at Age UK Solihull’s Christmas lunch events, and any additional gifts will be distributed to housebound elderly people in the borough.

The gifts, which should be new, in original packaging and suitable for an elderly person, should not be wrapped.

Lorraine Hart, fundraising manager at Age UK Solihull, said: “These gifts will make such a difference to older people in Solihull.

“Over 1,200 gifts have been donated over previous years, and we are hoping this year’s campaign will be bigger than ever.

“Thank you to Morgan Parkes and Home Instead Solihull for supporting us.”

Donated gifts should be dropped off at Morgan Parkes Recruitment 1 Old Warwick Road, Hockley Heath B94 6HH.

Alternatively, Home Instead have a stand at Tesco Stratford Road this week until Sunday (December 9) where items can be donated.

A team of volunteers from Age UK will be wrapping all the gifts.

The deadline for gifts is Sunday so there will be enough time for them to be wrapped and distributed in time for Christmas.
