A FORMER dinner lady celebrated her 105th birthday.
The party atmosphere was in full swing at The Priory Bupa Care Home as Lily Watts marked her milestone birthday with friends and family.
The care home staff decorated her room with balloon and bunting, and made her birthday cupcakes to share with her fellow residents.
Lily received a special card from King Charles and enjoyed being spoilt by her friends and family. Fellow residents also gave Lily a handmade card with 105 embellished on the front.
Born in Birmingham, Lily has a large family, with two children, John and Joy, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
As a young woman, Lily worked as a shop assistant and then later at Morris Commercial. However, she spent most of her life as a dinner lady. Her hobbies include sewing and knitting, which she enjoys doing regularly at The Priory.
Lily said: “My birthday was so special. I feel very grateful to be turning 105, surrounded by my beautiful family, and of course my friends and carers at The Priory, who celebrated with me.”
Home manager, Cheryl Harbourne, said: “We love celebrating our residents’ birthdays, and making sure they know how loved and appreciated they are. It was lovely to see Lily have such a lovely day, on her milestone birthday.”
