POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at an elderly couple’s home in Shirley.

Three men burst into the Haslucks Green Road house where the couple were sitting and demanded money and jewellery shortly after 10pm on May 31.

The man was struck with his walking stick, while the lady had her jewellery removed along with £300 cash stolen from her handbag. Jewellery was also taken from upstairs.

The offenders left through the front door and got into a white VW Golf, possibly a type R, which headed in the direction of the Stratford Road.

Forensic investigators have since examined the home and officers have conducted house to house enquiries.

Some CCTV was recovered, but only shows the vehicle the offenders left in.

Detective Sergeant Carl Grinnell from Solihull CID, said: “Thankfully the elderly victims were not seriously injured, but the couple have both clearly been left shaken by what happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who has seen anything suspicious or who has any information that would help to identify the offenders to make contact.”

Anyone with information can call Solihull CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
