A SOLIHULL pastry chef has won a top award.
Bharat Chandegra, Soko Patisserie’s Group Pasty Chef and Bake Off: The Professionals finalist has been crowned the British Culinary Federation’s Pasty Chef of the Year 2023.
Bharat, who founded Soko Patisserie with Andreas Antona in 2022, was handed the award by TV presenter Nick Owen and British Culinary Federation Chair Lee Corke at the Grand Hotel Birmingham.
Bharat said: “It is an honour and privilege to be named pastry chef of the year 2023 by the British Culinary Federation.
“Thank you to all my work colleagues past and present for the support and recognition, I’m truly humbled.”
Bharat teamed up with Darryl Collins for the 2018 series of Bake Off: The Professionals.
The pair, who competed on behalf of Resorts World, made it through to the final three where disaster struck when their grand showpiece smashed.
