FRESH Air Theatre is a new festival from Solihull Culture bringing more than 40 free events to parks across Solihull this summer.
Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, an exciting programme will feature performances from world class theatre, dance, music and physical theatre companies.
Solihull’s very own vintage vocal harmony trio, The Boogaloo Babes, perform free concerts at 2pm on 21 July in Knowle Park and 31 August in Dicken’s Heath Park.
Creators of world class dance-circus productions, Motionhouse use dynamic parkour and rhythmic beats to perform ‘HENGE’ in Shirley Park on 28 July from 1pm and 4pm.
Lively and joyous, exhilarating and exciting, ‘HENGE’ is a must-see for audiences of all ages.
Sampad Arts take over Shirley Park on 11 August from 12pm until 6pm – get ready for an amazing showcase of South Asian culture, in celebration of South Asian Heritage Month.
Circo Rum Ba Ba present ‘The Crow House’, a lively battle of acrobatics, trapeze, hat juggling, slapstick and audience participation.
At 11am and 2pm on 29 July at Bentley Heath Recreation Ground and 30 July at Damson Lane Park and 31 July at Lanchester Park.
RoguePlay’s ‘Forests’, features fiery acrobatics and dance in a family-friendly show.
At 11am and 2pm on 3 August at Lavender Hall Park, and 4 August at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, 14 August at Elmdon Park and 15 August at Dorridge Park.
Highly Sprung’s ‘CastAway’ features a unique gyroscopic flying machine and an all-female cast, immersing audiences in an underwater world where performers dive, twist, and float in the air.

Enjoy theatrical storytelling with ‘The Chelmsley Tale’ in multiple parks across the Borough from 19 to 24 August. It tells the fairy tales associated with the origins of Chelmsley Wood, including characters such as Chelmund, the Woodlings and mischievous forest sprites.
On 24 August, Ascension Dance present ‘The Other Side’ in Knowle Park at 11am and Jubilee Park Olton at 3pm. It combines dance and parkour and tackles the idea of bridging differences and divides, in order to all benefit.
On 28 August at 11am and 2pm, Elmdon Park plays host to ‘Out of the Deep Blue’ by Autin Dance Theatre. This beautiful spectacle features a 13-foot tall puppet and includes a promenade and theatre show.
‘Parade’ is a moving performance by Autin Dance Theatre on 29 August from 1pm until 3pm, and features a 12 foot tall giant wheel carrying performers high above the streets of Solihull town centre, spinning them around and upside down.
