SOLIHULL has been named as one of the best places in the UK for work/life balance and mental health.

With generous salaries, short commutes, plenty of green space the borough has ranked sixth following a study by Coworking Cafe.

Researchers evaluated the work/life balance and mental well-being landscape of the UK, ranking the best places based in residents’ self-reported mental health indicators, average working hours, remote work culture, green spaces as well as income levels and purchasing power.

The median salary in Solihull is £38,942 a year with Silhillians working an average of 38.1 hours a week while 36.1 per cent of the workforce operates remotely, which contributes ti greater flexibility and reduced commuting times.

Silhillians scored an average of 7.6 out of 10 for happiness and the same figure for life satisfaction.

There was a score of 3.02 out of 10 for anxiety.

The number of homes with private garden came in at around 89.7 per cent in this study.

The research said: “Solihull offers a balance between urban connectivity and a serene lifestyle.

“That makes it an appealing location for families and recognised for its excellent schools and green spaces, but also a strong economic hub with the National Exhibition Centre and Birmingham Airport nearby.”

St Albans in Hertfordshire came top of the list and Sevenoaks and Cheltenham coming second and third.

Nearby Warwick took the number eight spot.
