A SOLIHULL nursery manager is proud after its Ofsted rating jumped from Requires Improvement to Good.

Following a visit from Inspectors Bright Horizons Nursery on Kineton Road has been rated Good in all areas.

The nursery, which has 40 children enrolled, was praised for its programme of activities and experiences for all children.

Inspectors noted: “There is a good balance of child-initiated and adult-led experiences, which build on each child’s prior

learning and extends their knowledge and understanding effectively.

“Staff read stories and introduce books which link effectively to topics that children are learning about.”

During the inspection, which took place on October 7, it was noted the staff get to know the children well and they liaise closely with parent to gather information so routines can be matched well to those at home.

When the nursery and pre-school was previously inspected in 2019 leadership at the setting was rated as Requires Improvement as the leadership system in place at the time did not allow for weaknesses to be picked up easily.

Now inspectors say: “There have been significant improvements since the last inspection, which have had a positive effect on the provision.

“The new manager is inspirational and leads her team with a clear and considerate ethos for providing high-quality care

and education.

“Staff are motivated and empowered to take on new roles and responsibilities.”

The reported said the current safeguarding measures in place are effective.

Inspectors noted Bright Horizons needs to strengthen the relationship with parents to promote a two-way flow of information and fully engage parents and/or carers in the provision.Chelsea Jones, nursery manager, said: “The team have worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months to improve quality and standards within the nursery and this is really reflected in the children’s learning experiences.

“The Ofsted inspection report represents a true picture of what it is like to be a child at our nursery.

“I am proud to have led the team on this journey and am excited about what else the future holds for Bright Horizons Solihull.”
