Solihull MP steps away from committee role while investigations carried out

SOLIHULL MP, Julian Knight, has temporarily stepped away as the chairman of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee.

He announced last month that he would be recusing himself from Parliament until a complaint made about him to the Metropolitan Police has been resolved.

The DCMS Committee has agreed that Damian Green will act as chair during the absence Mr Knight’s absence.

Mr Green is the MP for Ashford has previously served as First Secretary of State and Work and Pensions Secretary.




Mr Knight said: “I remain as chair of the DCMS Committee, however, whilst I have recused myself from Parliament, my colleague Damian Green will be chairing Committee meetings on my behalf.

“I am still working hard as the Member of Parliament for Solihull and I had a constructive meeting with Sir Alan Wood, the Department for Education commissioner, to discuss children’s services provision at Solihull Council”.
