SOLIHULL MP Julian Knight has pledged to support Solihull Council in its new effort to tackle homelessness in the borough.
Last year Julian and his colleagues on the Communities and Local Government Select Committee authored and introduced a landmark new anti-homelessness bill.
Commenting on the programme, Julian said: “Nobody deserves to be homeless.
“Solihull has always had a strong and caring community and I’m not surprised that our town is at the forefront of finding new solutions to this problem.
“One of my proudest achievements last year was helping to write and sponsor the Homelessness Reduction Bill.
“My colleagues and I recognised that helping people before they lose their homes is both the best and kindest way to meet this challenge, and I’m very pleased to see Solihull Council shares this view.
“Since 2010 the Government has provided councils and charities with more than £500 million to help prevent homelessness, and this year I will work in Parliament to make sure our own programme has the resources it needs to keep our young people safe.”
