MP FOR Solihull Julian Knight has called on Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to increase Carer’s Allowance.

He has written a letter to Mr Hunt, saying during his role as a carer, he is aware of the challenges faced by those who selflessly devote themselves to the care of their loved ones.

“These unsung heroes deserve our unwavering support and recognition for their invaluable contributions to society.

“Drawing from my own personal experiences as a career, both in my teenage years and currently while caring for a family member with dementia, I understand the toll that caregiving can take.

“It is imperative that we ensure carers receive the financial assistance they require to continue their vital work without facing undue hardship.”

The Solihull Healthcare Partnership (SHP), which seeks to provide much-needed support and resources for carers in the community, is holding an event tomorrow for carers to connection with local organisations.

The event starts at 10am at Solihull Retirement Village.

Mr Knight added: “The event will feature participation from a range of esteemed organisations, including Carers Trust Solihull, Age UK Solihull, Gateway Family Service, Healthwatch Solihull, Solihull Council Adult Social Care, and many more.

“With free onsite parking available, I encourage all carers in our community to join us and take advantage of this invaluable opportunity to connect with resources and support networks.”
